First the details.
Then the deck.

A mountain stay has a few extra moving parts. Here’s how to arrive ready and make the most of Sierra Chalet.

A QUESTION WE HAVEN’T COVERED?

Ask us about the home, your dates, or a detail that would make your stay easier.

What’s the Sierra Chalet setup, and how many guests can stay?

Sierra Chalet is our two-bedroom, two-bath home in Moonridge, near Bear Mountain. We host a maximum of four guests at all times. Locked owner areas are not included in the rental.

SMALL GROUP. BIG CABIN ENERGY.

Two forest decks, lake and ski-area views from the upper deck, a private hot tub, ping-pong, and a fireplace. Give the cabin a little space on the itinerary, too.

What can we do at the chalet between lake days or ski runs?

Start upstairs with a coffee and the view. Later, head to the screened lower recreation deck for ping-pong or a hot-tub soak, then settle in by the fireplace.

THE FRIENDLY-COMPETITION DEPARTMENT

Ping-pong is included. Bragging rights are between you and your travel companions.

The kitchen and laundry make longer stays easier. Follow the house instructions for the fireplace, hot tub, and other equipment.

Is Sierra Chalet ski-in/ski-out? Are Bear Mountain and Snow Summit the same?

Sierra Chalet is near Bear Mountain; it is not a ski-in/ski-out rental. Plan your route based on weather, walking conditions, your equipment, and the day’s resort access.

Bear Mountain and Snow Summit are separate base areas. Check which one your lift ticket, lesson, or equipment pickup uses before setting off.

THE LOCATION DIFFERENCE

A Moonridge address near Bear Mountain does not put you at the Snow Summit base. A quick check now makes the morning much smoother.

Do we need chains if our car has AWD or 4WD?

Yes, you still need to carry appropriate traction devices in chain-control areas. AWD and 4WD do not remove every requirement. Installation depends on the posted control level, tires, and official instructions; R3 requires devices on all vehicles.

Check Caltrans chain guidance and QuickMap road conditions before driving. Use equipment compatible with your vehicle.

PACK THE PRACTICAL STUFF

Sort out traction devices before the drive. Mountain arrival is a lot more enjoyable when your car is ready for it.

How does parking work with the steep driveway?

Sierra Chalet allows up to three vehicles, with no street parking. The driveway is steep, with a parking platform at the top and a lower pad.

SIERRA-SPECIFIC ARRIVAL TIP

In snow or ice, avoid the lower driveway unless you have an appropriate AWD or 4WD vehicle and conditions allow safe access. The upper platform is the alternative described in our arrival guide; follow the current parking instructions.

Send us your vehicle plan ahead of arrival if you want help preparing.

Who clears snow, and what if it snows during our stay?

We arrange snow-clearing service. Timing depends on weather, demand, and road access, so immediate clearance is not guaranteed. Shovels are available for use during your stay.

City plows may leave a berm at the driveway. Clearance follows service schedules and conditions rather than a guaranteed arrival time.

BEFORE YOU HEAD UP

Check in with us about current access conditions. Pack footwear for snow and ice, and leave extra time for the drive.

Can we use the hot tub late at night?

Plan your soak for 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The City of Big Bear Lake prohibits spa and pool use during quiet hours, 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Keep noise from disturbing neighbors at other times, too.

THE EVENING PLAN

Hot tub first. Fireplace after. A good mountain night does not need a late-night outdoor soundtrack.

See the City’s Good Neighbor Guide and follow the chalet’s additional instructions.

When can we check in, and how do we get arrival details?

Check-in is 3 p.m.; checkout is 10 a.m. Complete the pre-arrival DocuSign paperwork and our brief check-in call so the access details and house instructions are ready.

ARRIVE READY TO UNPACK

Finish the paperwork before travel day. Then your first cabin decision can be coffee on the deck or a look around the house.

Early check-in or late checkout requires our advance confirmation.

Can a pet come along, and is the chalet step-free?

Contact us for Sierra Chalet’s current pet policy before adding a pet to the trip. Service-animal requests are handled separately from pet arrangements.

The chalet has steps, access between levels, and a sloped driveway. It is not a step-free property. We can discuss the entry route and bedroom and bathroom locations so you can assess the layout.

A USEFUL CONVERSATION BEFORE BOOKING

Tell us about the specific access features you need, and we’ll help with the details.

Which season should we choose, and how do we reserve?

Winter brings ski and snowboard plans when conditions allow. Warmer months make room for lake outings, trails, and deck time. Spring and fall offer a different mountain pace, with weather and seasonal operations to check before you go.

Explore Sierra Chalet, then ask us about your dates. Review the total price, minimum stay, guest limit, and cancellation terms before reserving. Weather or road restrictions do not automatically change those terms.
